Vendémiaire, Brumaire, Frimaire . . . Spring/Summer 2016 is inspired by Martha Romme’s fanciful series of fashion fantasy depicting lavish, billowing couture creations hand-finished with silver inking. The titles are witty French word-plays, reflecting the gentle teasing free-spirit in an idealization of the times. ‘Les Douze Mois de l’Anné’, which means ‘The 12 Months of the Year’, were published in 1919. 12 Pochoir watercolors, one for each month, served as an inspiration for Valentina & Valentia collection, resulting in billowy, romantic, yet modern and wearable looks, finished with hand embroidery and layered with volume.
